Construction site safety is a must
11 March 2011 by

Construction is statistically the most hazardous land based work sector in Europe. The fatality accident rate for any construction worker is 13 in every 100,000. This is way higher than any other land based profession. This makes safety for construction workers an issue of vital importance.
A lot of these hazards are very random and hence it is necessary that construction workers take all the precautions they can to prevent any occupational danger to their life. The most common accidents are falling from a height, a vehicle crash, electrocution and being struck by falling objects.
A lot of these fatal accidents could have been avoided by using the proper safety gear. This includes safety footwear and safety clothing. Workers and company owners are both jointly responsible for construction site safety. It is essential that construction companies provide their workers with all the necessary protective workwear which would help them minimise the impact of any accident.
On the other hand, it is absolutely essential for construction workers to have their safety clothing on at all times during their work schedule. Being alert while at work would also help reduce the occurrence of such a happening, to a great extent.
Governing bodies all over the world have laid specific guidelines for safety at construction sites. Following these has become mandatory. Safety gear like safety boots, overalls, tool vests, overalls with padded knee caps and elbow caps can all help to bring a more confident and accident free atmosphere to your construction site.
