Campaign vigil planned to protest a construction site death
14 February 2011 by

Construction site work has been rated as the second most dangerous job in the UK and deaths of workers on construction sites are far from declining. The numbers of actions against construction companies are rising every year.
Twenty-three-year-old Steven Allen, of Keighley in Yorkshire, died following a construction site accident in March 2007 in Bradford. The investigation report into his death is to be revealed soon.
His mother, along with other campaigners, will hold a vigil outside the construction site where the accident had taken place. Witnesses of the accident said that Allen had died due to head injuries since he was not wearing proper safety gear in the form of a helmet.
If he had been equipped with proper safety gear then the fatal accident could have been avoided. A little consciousness on the part of the workers and the companies can prevent such safety gear related accidents.
Workers suffer the most from these accidents and so it is their responsibility to wear proper safety gear and keep themselves safe and secure.
