Safety at construction sites to prevent mishaps
07 October 2010 by

Thousands of construction workers suffer from work related accidents every year. Many of the accidents are fatal while some are normal injuries. Most of the accidents at the work place can be easily avoided by just being a little bit more careful and alert and by wearing the required safety workwear and safety footwear. Hazards like being hit by falling materials, electrical contact, exposure to harmful substances like paints, asbestos, cleaning materials etc can be avoided by wearing the right safety clothing.
Due to frequent mishaps, safety in construction work is required as a top priority. Construction workers are usually skilled labourers trained for safety. Some of the reasons for these accidents are inferior tools, unprotected body parts, faulty materials etc. If the tools and equipment used in construction work are not maintained properly then they can harm the workers. Supervisors should always monitor all the activity at the construction site to prevent any accidents.
Another important thing that every supervisor at a construction site or factory must ensure is that all the workers must wear their protective clothing at work. The workers must be made aware of the importance of wearing safety clothing and safety footwear while working. By wearing safety boots and protective vests, jackets and trousers, one can easily avoid common mishaps at the workplace.
It is the duty of the employer to provide the right safety workwear and footwear to the employees. The employees also have the duty to wear the safety clothing at work for their own safety.
