Employees’ safety and workwear

The safety and the health of the employees must be given top priority by business owners on account of various legal provisions like the Corporate Manslaughter Act. Though many good businesses have managed their priorities regarding the welfare of the staff well, there are still more commitments and obligations under the law to ensure the workers’ safety.

Many firms still fail to take good care of the health and safety of their employees. This can result in workplace accidents or even fatalities and the owners could face serious action including stiff penalties if the legal provisions are not scrupulously followed.

The latest legislation categorically states that if the employer is negligent and has caused the death of an employee, there will be severe fines and other actions under the various provisions of the Act including criminal proceedings. The erring company could end up paying five percent of their annual turnover as damages or compensation to the bereaved family. The full impact of the act is rather difficult to gauge, but it is becoming apparent that the health and safety of employees must move up the priority lists of all business.

This means employers in many areas must provide the workers with proper safety workwear. The workwear need not be dull. It can be functional as well as attractive.
