There are certain workplaces that require safety wear or clothing, like the construction crew that work on the road or at a building site. Safety clothing is essential for every employee, even if the danger of being hurt is remote.
At construction sites workers have to deal with several chemical substances, wood materials, sharp tools and an ever changing climatic condition. Therefore, in order to safeguard the body, one has to be dressed appropriately.
Overalls are safety clothing which are suitable for construction sites. This one piece garment helps the worker to move about easily and flexibly. The pockets on the overalls are ideal for keeping tools and important papers which are needed at the work site. Jackets are also important work clothing as they provide the worker with warmth during cold weather and protection from rain. The jackets can also have pockets with zips for keeping important documents and mobile phones.
Accessories like leather gloves and tool belts are also important as safety clothing. They help in saving both time and protecting against unwanted accidents. Footwear is also equally important as the work clothes. The footwear has to be rough and tough so that the worker does not end up with an injured foot. Safety clothing and footwear not only keep workers safe but also well protected.
Good quality safety clothing is easily available in different sizes and at affordable prices.

After all, it is a known fact that prevention is better than cure.
Although the government has passed laws stating that construction firms must have a written ‘fall protection work plan’ and all workers should wear proper safety gear when working at a height of 3 metres and above, little heed is being paid to these legislations and guidelines.
Recently at a Broadway Avenue Construction site, a 23 year old worker had to pay with the price of his life for neglecting safety guidelines. The worker was working at a small platform 15 metres high, without wearing safety gear. The platform was joined to a wooden wall, generally used for pouring concrete.
The two witnesses, who watched the accident occur, said that at first the wooden wall shifted partially leading the platform to tilt to one side and then the worker fell directly to the ground. According to them, the worker was not wearing any harness or any other type of safety gear at all.
The worker fell on another man, working on the ground level, who was critically injured since he too was not wearing a helmet. This fatal accident could easily have been avoided had the workers been wearing proper safety clothing.
Such accidents can easily be avoided, when construction companies and workers become more conscious to safety issues and implement safety measures.
